People Behind the Purses: Joshua

I am always honored to blog about the people my bags are named after, as each person has made a big impact on my life. For this one, it’s especially true.

I am thrilled to have the perfect bag to name after my brother, Joshua.

First, a bit about Josh: Other than my husband and my dad, he is the man who has made the biggest impact on my life. He’s loyal, supportive, and he can always make me crack up. When I called to tell him about the new bag, we both choked up a bit. I got to tell him again that he just really makes a big difference in my life.

Josh travels for work, which made him the perfect match for our new 1948 leather duffle bag, the Joshua.

I have to say, this duffle bag is super impressive. Paige, our leather maker, truly knocked it out of the park. I always have someone test our bags before they are available, and this was the first one tested by a man. My brother-in-law got to use it first, and he loved it. After just a few edits, the Joshua duffle bag is perfect!

It’s a great size for a one-two night stay, both for men and women, and it’s available in pioneer colors.

Now, read on to learn about the MAN behind the bag!

1. How do you know Rebekah?

She's my sister, duh!

2. Where did you grow up? How would you describe your childhood?

I grew up in Western South Dakota three miles east of Philip, and I had a good childhood. People have said that I was born a farmer-rancher. I loved and still love all types of equipment and have a deep respect and abiding love for horses, but more specifically, working cattle with horses.

3. Briefly tell us about your family.

I have two sisters and brother that passed away in 2014, and my wife and I have four children.

4. What are some of your hobbies?

My hobbies include riding horse, coyote hunting, and honestly, working — I love what I do. I'm a trucker, so that goes hand in hand with my love of machinery. My wife and I also do horse therapy, and that is an immensely satisfying job that doesn't seem like a job.

5. Do you own/have you seen the Joshua duffle bag yet? What do you like about it?

I have seen the duffel bag! Let me tell you, it's about time I get one named after me. It's currently in my bedroom right now. I haven't used it yet because I don't want to get it dirty, as the nature of my work is very, very dirty.

I love the color, and I love the fact that it's named after me! Need I say more?

6. We're curious about a few of your favorites.

My all-time favorite movie has always been Braveheart, but Open Range is right up there. I have quite a few favorite books, but my top ones are Mark Batterson’s “The Circle Maker” and “Chase the Lion,” as well as both of Chip Gaines’ books: “Capital Gaines” and “No Pain, No Gaines.” My favorite ice cream is cookies and cream, hands down.

7. Do you have a quote or motto you live by?

Jeremiah 1:5: “Before you were born, I sent you apart.” God set each of us apart for 10,000 unique things. We are each so wonderfully different in personality and talents and gifts; God set each of us apart. Every time I read this or recite this verse it realigns my thinking.
