Oh goodness, what a couple of weeks we have had with weather! I hope everyone got to where they were going for Christmas and got home safe as well. We went to my folks place and made it just fine and couldn’t leave for 5 days, but it was wonderful to have that long for vacation!

I love blizzard days, especially when my whole family is with me. The only little problem with blizzard days is that while I LOVE working at home, even when everyone else can’t get to work, I can still work, so that is a little conflicting . It’s a good thing I love what I do, or I would dread these snowed-in days.

So I have been busy catching up on the various lines and filling orders, scrunchy scarves, Barbies, frayed scarves and 2, count them!, 2 new styles that can be worn across your chess that are adjustable. I haven’t even named them yet, but look forward to who they will remind me of and just who will be granted their names. I think they will be received well and I can say now that I do have some messenger style bags that are adjustable, I love filling a need!

My niece turns 1 tomorrow so I have been brainstorming on what to give her. I think I may make her a very little purse, after all, she should be initiated into the purse community appropriately! I made her an adorable hat for Christmas and have been given some good reviews on it so maybe I will have to add hats to the Olive Branch line when I get up to full speed after baby arrives.

Only six more weeks to go and this baby is debuting! I am excited as well as scared for all the busyness and lack of sleep moms get. I am also encouraged though because God has always provided me strength and endurance and proven me wrong,-thank goodness!

I have just booked the first trunk show for late March in Minnesota, so if you are thinking you would like to be a part of our “tour” in the Minnesota area for trunk shows, email us at rebekahscottdesigns@yahoo.com and we can talk about some dates and plan out some girl time! The host benefits include a FREE scrunchy scarf right now for booking.

Check out www.shoprsd.com in the coming weeks to see the new additions, and in the meanwhile-Enjoy our winter wonderland!

Oh goodness has this Christmas season been busy! But I wouldn’t have it any other way, well maybe a few more slow sipped hot ciders and time in front of our Christmas tree just counting my blessings, but I will take what I got!

I wanted to mention what a wonderful year we have had with Rebekah Scott Designs. I do love this time of year, because it causes us all to reflect on what we have and where we have been. God has sent us running all around and we are so blessed because of it! Thank you all for supporting us and really loving our products. I say it often but I really do just simply love what I do. I wake up every morning thinking I am the luckiest gal alive, I do what I love everyday and never dread a Monday morning! Thank you for making that possible.

We are always coming up with new lines to introduce each year and January is a great month to do that. I really sit down with tea and start brainstorming about products I want to introduce and what my customers have made requests for. I love dreaming and sketching up new things and even doing the first prototypes. I know for sure right now, that I am adding 1-2 new long styles that can be worn over your shoulder and across your chest. I am pretty excited to get started on this because so many have asked and I have a few in mind already. We are also thinking about expanding the Olive Branch line to include more pieces. I love designing for this one as well. We will have to see what this baby in my tummy is in mid-Feb., to see if this one will cause some more inspiration! Can’t wait for that as well!

As for Trunk shows, be sure and get them booked now for Jan and early Feb. I will be taking 6 weeks off for baby and the new adjustments that come with adding one more! So I would like to have the trunk shows in the books to plan ahead. We will be taking orders during that time, just not filling them until after the 6 weeks. We will have a great host package for shows in Jan, so stay tuned to find out this coming Monday, the 28th, what we will be offering!

Merry Christmas everyone, enjoy your holidays thoroughly and take time to reflect and Praise God for all we have!

Here we go! Christmas is only 51 days away, can you believe it? I love Christmas, and I have been listening to Christmas music for at least 2 weeks now! Our son Gus even sings jingle bells with hope in his eyes, or at least I like to think so!

With Christmas this close we should go over the Rebekah Scott Designs Christmas rush! During the holidays are turnaround increases to four weeks. So we would like the orders placed for Christmas by Dec. 7th so we can have our your gifts out in time to celebrate. We will of course accept orders after the 7th, but will be limited to what we can get done and what we have in stock to send out. If you are designing your own, the best way to have it in time is email us your ideas by Dec. 7th, so we can clarify and finalize it all. You may still order and buy after the 7th, it just becomes a bigger rush and tougher to make sure everything is out by then.

We have two big shows coming up that you can shop at as well. The Autumn Festival is Nov 12th-15th in Shakopee MN at Canterbury Park. We love this show, a huge number of booths are there with super talented artisans and the show really ushers in the holiday spirit.

We also have the Minglewood Art Show Dec 4th-5th in Sioux Falls. This is home show hosted by my good friend Carmen Dyar. She hosts this show in her home with 6 other artists. Her home is inspiration enough to go. The show is free to attend and so worth it just to see her home! She is a very talented decorator and she merchandises all the artists items a week in advance to show off that weekend. I love this show, so personal and so much fun to feel the Christmas spirit all around. I bring all my goods to buy or you can design your own as well. This is my 4th year doing her show and each year it gets better and better. So reserve the first weekend in December, the 4th and 5th for the Minglewood Studios Merry Merry Christmas Marketplace. I will send out our invite closer to the date with directions and times. We offer 10% off for both shows by printing this blog entry, and also for ordering before Dec. 7th, it pays to shop early .

Merry Merry Marketplace Invite

As for other news, we are busy- busy filling orders for Barbies and Pixies for the upcoming shows and salons. They pick up in popularity during the holidays and really fly off the shelves. The Wristlet’s are $28 and the Pixies are $30 along with the Cosmetics at $15, so they are great gift ideas and stocking stuffers. We have placed 8 new wristlets at Hip Chic boutique in downtown Sioux Falls this, and will have 4 Barbies and 4 Pixies at the Atoley Salon in Sioux Falls. We are also selling the often sold-out Bobby pins at the Atoley Salon. We sent 4 of the new scrunchy scarves to Trendz Boutique in downtown Brookings SD with 100 bobby pins. Shop now and shop big before they sell out!

Enjoy this season of bliss and family and always express your inner beauty.

Hello! What a busy fall season already, I am making soup tonight for my family to really get in the mood! We just took in some scarves to the Trendz boutique in Brookings SD. So if you are in the area, stop by and look at the new scarves by Rebekah Scott Designs. They are our square scarves with the must-have fringed edge. There are several different ways of wearing them and they are posted on the website at www.shoprsd.com as well as on www.facebook.com on the fan page. I love the trend of scarves because they are so effortless and such a quick update to that plain t-shirt. The scarves are $20 and available at Trendz boutique in downtown Brookings SD, and also Hip Chic boutique in downtown Sioux Falls SD.

Also, we just got our coin purses done! So look on the website www.shoprsd.com in the next couple of weeks to see the newest addition to add to your shopping cart! They are $8 in price and perfect for your loose change. They are approx. 3in by 4in. and have a spring loaded closure. You can order them to match your bag or order one that doesn’t match and take a walk on the wild side Please note- depending on the repeat of the fabric you choose, the coin purses will vary because of the way they are cut out and just where they are cut out on the fabric.

Check out Etch Hair Salon and Spa in Sioux Falls SD to see the new purses we just took in there also. Here we come fall!

We are traveling west river in South Dakota to do some trunk shows, so if you are thinking about hosting a show and live around that area, please email us at rebekahscottdesigns@yahoo.com and we can go over some dates and do a trunk show. The hostess credits are really awesome and the month of Oct and Nov. are still double reward points, so $20 per order placed at your show!

Have a great week and express your inner beauty!

Meet Pixie! She is fun, portable and even has class to boot! She has just enough room for your cell phone, the perfect shade of lipstick, some cash, and your keys, and the other essentials for the perfect evening out. She is approximately 10 inches by 7 inches. She is $30.00 and will available on the website www.shoprsd.com, through the shopping cart soon. Or get creative and design your own by emailing your idea to rebekahscottdesigns@yahoo.com. I created her because I have a secret fetish for evening bags. Somehow I think my husband will get the hint that I would like to go on dates more often, because he will get lots of attention due to the fabulous evening bag that his wife is carrying! In the past I have admitted that I am a big bag lady, but I also love efficiency, and that is exactly what Pixie brings to the party. So get your groove on, Pixie is your new girls night out!

Oh goodness, I know it has been awhile since I updated the blog, but the title really sums up what has been going on and that is so wonderful! We have been busy filling stock from all the summer shows and getting the fall fabrics in. I hope you noticed the new swatches on the website, adorable fabrics that are really different and super fun. I already picked out my fabric for the fall season, either Stone Home or the Joel Dewberry addition of the Raspberry Orchid, (purple is my favorite color!).

My family got to go on vacation this last week to northen MN and we fished and just relaxed. We went with my mom’s side and had a ball with all my cousins and siblings. Gus even caught his first fish, which is so

true of the vacation, just a great time. During vacation, I was able to take some time and really think about the direction of “Rebekah Scott Designs” and boy I did some visualizing. I drew up some new purse styles and brainstormed on how to streamline the ”Olive Branch” line. Stay tuned for the big debut, I will be offering 7 sizes, up to 4T, with new fabrics and characters. Can’t wait to get started, I am ordering the fabric this next week. I also thought about what else do I want to start? Well eventually I would like to introduce a clothing line. But I have got to educate myself on pattern making, draping, designing and drawing. I can do all of them, just not well enough to launch something. But I have bought some books and looked into some education avenues, so here we go!!!

Coming up next? Yankton River Boat Days, August 21, 22nd and 23rd. We are excited to do the show because it is a first as well for us. Print this entry and receive 10% off your order or pass along to family and friends who may also atttend. It’s a great show to wrap up summer shows. Then we have Sidewalk Arts Festival, and I have some trunk shows in the Minneapolis area.

There’s the latest and wow do I feel good about writing again. I love what I do and will continue to bring new and exciting things to Rebekah Scott Designs, God is so good and using my talents has really been a blessing

This time- Grand Fork ND for the Grand Cities Art Festival. The air in the car is real excitement, have I ever mentioned that I love what do? Seriously, I am really living my dream everyday. I am reminded of it everyday with different things that I do, but especially on the road to shows laughing and dreaming up new ideas and envisioning where else the road may take us. I tell Sarah often, this trip is short, think of when we try Vegas and Chicago! (Oh yes, you heard right, I am going to try to those shows before we know it!) We have been talking about which restaurant we will try tonight, Italian or Chinese; usually Chinese wins out for us. Our hotel this time even has a pool, which is an upgrade from our normal- dead bolt and lock -yellow-lighted- scared for our lives motels. I have been busy cutting out the new bobbin pin fabric to make those up tonight to sell next week, and Sarah has been navigating the road with a trailer who follows her verbal commands- yes she talks to it, makes her feel in control.

It was a busy week trying to get everything restocked for this show from Edina last weekend. We got it all done and I am excited to show again. I cut out two brand new styles I had sketched last weekend while selling and I am anxious to see what they turn out like. There will be probably be a few prototypes before they are complete and ready to add to the line, but I started. I realized this week, that I really enjoy evening bags and coming up with new ideas for them, and then I thought, “Oh who am I kidding? I just love purses!” I am leaning on naming one of the bags Kelsey, after a childhood friend of my out west river and the other one has to grow on me to see who it reminds me of.

I had a rather significant realization this week. I was thinking of which fabrics and styles sold the best, and it occurred to me the more I follow my gut and my own design ideas, the more they sell. I used to design for others and what fabric I would think people would like, but then I realized the more I cater to my likes and my design thoughts, the bigger I become. It was comforting to realize that I know what I am doing and that I really do have a gift dream, I love what I do, thank you God.

She’s here! Meet Jannell, the newest addition to my collection. She is my version of the perfect sized tote. She is approx. 15in. x12 in. and has just a few leather details. Her handles are leather so they won’t show wear and tear, and the very bottom of her is leather to keep it clean and updated. The handles are 22in. long, the average handle length to fit right over your shoulder. I created Jannell so my customers would have an option of having a really cute statement tote without a lot of cost involved. Jannell is $75. I named her after my Aunt Jannell who is very bubbly, practical and always on the go! So if you need a statement tote to add life to your summer, introduce Jannell into your life!

Yes, you read right, I have completed the first phase of my baby/children’s clothing line. The line is
meant for Photographers who are looking for that unique “look” to photograph their clients in. Last Friday I presented the line to Candace Ann Photography in Sioux Falls and she bought every single piece I had! I was so excited and thrilled that I really nailed the ”concept” she was hoping for and even had some surprise pieces she loved. The line is available for photographers and customers to purchase as well. I will post the pictures of the pieces as soon as Candace Ann gets her models lined up and has them photographed. You will love it.

Rebekah Scott and Candace Ann

Candace contacted me a couple of weeks ago asking me to design her a really unique line that her clients would love and that she would have a ball photographing. She is bubbly and inspirational and always uplifting. She really knows her stuff and I always leave her thinking “I’m using my God-given talents.” She makes me want to do better at everything, always aiming higher.

She wanted pieces that were truly different and fun to place her babies and children in. The pieces are all very “costumey” with a modern funk and ease of creativity. I designed and sewed five different bloomers and matching headpieces. They were all either equiped with flowers or sequins or even some fur! I made two really cute tutus, one is black and red and full of sass, the other one had teal, pink, red, lime green, and yellow tule with dragon flies placed strategically. I designed a lavender/mint plaid dress with matching train that flows elegantly from behind. My favorite piece is a deep hunter green velour cape with a copper iridescent lining and golden goose feathers lining the hood. When I sketched this piece I couldn’t wait to see it executed and it completed my vision 100%. I can’t wait to post the pictures for you to see! So yes, exciting news for Rebekah Scott Designs. I know Candace Ann will be seeking out Models for the first shoot, so be sure to check out her website at candaceann.com, and read her blog to keep updated. God is so good and really using me in ways I never knew possible, here I come!

SIDE NOTE: I have sent over 20 new purses that I finished up and sent to my website designer -so stay tuned for the new ones!
