Losing sleep and loving it!

Weird title perhaps? No, it really is how I feel right now. I am losing sleep thinking of all the cool ideas I have in my head.  I always say if I wasn’t designing full time, I would be a professional brain stormer, I just love it!

I had a call this week with another start up company from Windom MN and they wanted topillow brainstorm on some ideas to get their product out there and how to get started.  As soon as they emailed me to see if we could chit chat I started brainstorming on how to market their idea and get it going, it was so fun, I couldn’t stop, I just spewed about 100 ideas at once at them and I can’t wait to see where they go with it. The company is called “Pillow Portraits” at www.pillowportraits.com and they have the cutest products, great for Graduations and Weddings coming up this spring and summer, check them out! Good luck ladies, I will be cheering you on all the way!

Then last night, after a really great trunk show in Sioux Falls, thanks Mel Keegan! , I had a great idea for another company. Wouldn’t it be cool to create a little “workshop” of designers and seamstresses where you could go with your ideas and they would help develop them and sew them up for you? I think it be would be so cool! I have heard numerous times people wishing they could sew because they have all these ideas but don’t know where to start….so wouldn’t it be cool if there was a warehouse/workshop you could go to and develop your idea and see it made up?  That would be amazing, so maybe someday I will own and operate that little workshop, sounds cool huh? I have a few ideas myself I would like to see made up and develop, but where’s the time? Ha!    I think I will brainstorm on that some more!

We are filling and making orders like crazy–gearing up for the summer shows. We have heard back from all the art fairs and we made into all the ones we were in last year and a few more. Our calender of events is updated on the website and also on facebook, check it out and mark your calenders!

parachuteI am hoping to book my first show with our sales rep Alison this week.  I have gal and some of her girlfriends who just can’t wait to have a party and want their purse for summer now, so I directed her to Ali and she will do the show for me. It’s hard to let go a little since the business is so much a part of me, but I feel really comfortable and confident in Alison and her representation of Rebekah Scott Designs.  I tell myself, “Rebekah, here we go, let go and let God, feel the wind under your wings!”  Well- we are flying- but not without a little parachute and googles (for safety reasons only you know! ;) I know I know, let go and fly!

I am sewing up the baby booties as well, one at a time to make sure we get it down pat on how they will look.  I will say this- they are adorable! I have loved putting them together so far, can’t wait to see how they are received.  Pictures soon! They will be available only at home shoes and art shows, not via the website because they are too difficult to update, so they are a little  exclusive. You will be able to see them online, just not add to shopping cart.

bekahnickwedI better get to sewing and loving on my children.  And a side-note, my husband turns 30 today!  His golden birthday, we are going to celebrate big!!!  Nicholas- I love you carelessly and without any hope of ever giving up.  You are not the wind behind my wings, God is, but you are the guy pushing me out the plane and flying with me to success, thank you honey!  I love you, and Happy Birthday.

Success comes in all ways….

Ivy & GrandmaHello all! We just got back from Shakopee MN for the spring festival show and we did so good! I had such a great time selling with my twin sister Sarah and having Mom come with to watch Iversyn. It was sort of like a “girlfriends weekend.” With Ivy only 6 weeks old, I had my mom come along to help with her so I could still nurse and just be with her. We had a blast. What a blessing to be in this family and for them to truley believe in me and travel with me wherever my desires take me. I am one blessed girl.

Hot Pink Pants

Hot Pink Pants

We even wore our “uniforms” on Sunday to the booth. I got us hot pink corduroys to wear along with our Rebekah Scott Designs t-shirts. Iversyn even got a pair of hot pink pants from her Aunt Lia. So we got a picture to savor the moment. There was something about wearing those hot pink pants and tshirts that really made me feel like I have made something of this and I felt really fullfilled and excited about where this is taking me and my family. Thank you fans for making this possible, I will not let you down.

I also got to meet Alison Werder, my sales rep from the cities area, in person. She is perfect for the job, I am really excited to see where she will take our business as well. She is well informed and LOVES my things, what better match is there? If you want to book a show in the Minneapolis area, let us know, and you can book with her. She has a great mix of bags and accessories to show you and all my swatches to even design your own with her. Welcome Alison, here’s to a journey we will remember!

So that’s it for now, but we are getting lots of acceptence letters to the Art Shows, so be sure to check our “calender” on the website, www.shoprsd.com to see where we will be next. Okay back to the grind, gotta cut out those babies booties!

A Touch of Country has new bags!

Hello! A Touch of Country in Huron SD has new bags in their store, and you should take a look! I just exhanged some newer styles and fabrics with Peggy, the owner, and she was excited to take them back and get them moving! If you are in the area, take a peak, she also has wristlets and cosmetics, which are GREAT Mother’s Day gifts or wedding and graduation gifts. It’s that time of year again, happy shopping!

Brainstorming fanatic

If I wasn’t a bag designer I would be a professional brainstormer. Yep, you heard right, I just LOVE brainstorming about any job or opportunity or business venture, I just plain LOVE it. I organized a “passion group” in Sioux Falls where a group of girls get together and chit chat about business and how to stay passionate about what we feel we are gifted in. I always feel uplifted and energized during and after the meeting. I have one in Brookings SD as well, and they really help me stay passionate about my work and about others dreams. I love brainstorming with the women on their businesses or their dreams. If you need some motivating in life or business feel free to join us for our meetings. Email us from the website at www.shoprsd.com and we will tell you where and when, we would love to have new faces and new reasons to brainstorm. We may just be the ticket you needed to get started and start living your dreams!
I look at Iversyn and think, just what will her dreams be? Where will her journey go and how far and how big? I have been praying for God to reveal His will for her life early on so we can encourage and empower her in that journey. I can’t wait to brainstorm with her on how to get where she desires! So here’s to empowering women and living big, Praise God!

Easter Blessings…

Easter is such a fun time of year and a very reflective time of year as well. I like preparing my heart and mind for the season as well and this year I feel like I did a better job of it. I reflected more on His sacrifice for me. I am the most blessed gal alive, I do what I love everyday, design and I get to stay at home with my children, who are both healthy and full of life, thank you God.
We are back in the swing of things, sewing is up to speed for the most part and I just ordered some new fabrics for the summer, so much fun!

I recently hired my first sales representative from the Minneapolis area, Allison Werder, and I am very excited to see the progress she can make in the cities area for Rebekah Scott Designs. She is lively and loves my company and our vision and mission. Welcome Allison, so excited to see where this takes us! If you live in the cities area you will able to book shows with me or Allison and enjoy our products up close and personal. Stay tuned for detail… we will be sending an email about when to book shows with Allison and some “Meet the Designer” shows where I will be there in addition.
Have a wonderful Easter and remember to sing “He Arose” with extra vigor!
